What is the intent of this site?

This site is intended to assist in the production of live theatre productions.  It is meant to be an online portal for all information about a theatrical production.  It is intended to replace online "Group" services which do not cater to the special needs of theatre.  In particular, this site will be helpful for stage managers and production managers as well as cast and crew members who wish to have a single, online portal.

How is this site supported?

Currently this site is not supported by any organization and has no source of revenue.  Because the site is still in the process of being launched and traffic is minimal, the hosting and bandwidth charges are low and it is losing less than $200/month.  At some point there may be advertisements added to the site or there may be a charge for using the site or premium services in order to defray the cost of hosting and development.

I registered, but I don't see how to add a show.  What do I do?

You probably registered as an individual rather than a theatre.  Only theatre administrators can add shows.  You must re-register as a theatre using a different username.  You may then use the "Add Administrator" function to add your old registration to the list of administrators.

Why is the forum a separate registration process?

Participation in the forum is optional and is also not restriced by membership in the eProduction site.  In other words, you can be a member of eProduction and not be in the forums and you can be in the forums without being in eProduction.

Is this some kind of scam?

It is sad that people actually ask this question and sadder still that I understand how you feel.  This is not a scam in any way.  Hopefully it will come to serve a good purpose and will be able to support itself.

When will (some feature) be completed?

The intended release schedule for features will be posted in the forum as well as a notice when the feature is completed.  The release schedule may change based on the opinions expressed by users.  If some features are more desperately needed, those may be pushed to the front of the queue.

Who can see the information I enter?

First, please consult our privacy policy.  Other members of the show will be able to see your name, telephone numbers and e-mail address.  Because theatre administrators are able to perform a lookup to find cast and crew members in our system, those administrators will be able to see your name and location.  However, a general list of names, locations, telephone numbers, etc. will not be published on the site.

I got an error, what did I do wrong?

You did nothing wrong, the system did something wrong.  This site is still under development and from time to time, errors may occur.  If you see the "Error" page it means that something unexpected happened in the system which may or may not have been triggered by an action you performed.  When this occurs, an e-mail is sent to the webmaster with the details of the error message.

Your Terms of Service specifically prohibit use by Television and Film production companies.  Why?

First, this site is geared towards live theatre and is not intended to meet the special needs of televisioin and film.  While those entities may find some aspects of the site useful, the resources needed to support them (bandwidth, database space, processor time) would quickly overwhelm the site and make it useless for the rest of the arts community.  If there is demand, a separate site may be created for film and/or television.

Why are you doing this?

Because it needs to be done.
